Are You Sure You're Sure?

The learning system functions in many different ways for many different organizations. Many organizations use the system as a compliance tool, ensuring that they are in step with employment laws and standards.

This requirement can lead to some complicated business rules and user experience where systems constantly ask users to confirm their choices, select options from confusing dialog boxes, and in general - just get bothered by the system’s “over compliance” mindset. As shown in the companion video, it could almost seem comical if this didn’t derail your team members' day and create confusion.

Systems focused on helping users get their work done quickly and efficiently shouldn’t get in the way of these types of complications. Using automatic tracking, streamlined menu options, and ensuring that messages are written in a plain, easy-to-understand language is crucial to giving busy, on-the-go workers what they need while maintaining compliance and legal obligations.

When choosing a system, check with the vendor - what do your options look like when users have to make selections from dialog boxes and confirmations? Can your system automatically track compliance completion, and if we need, can we also enable manual self-attestation?

Implementing a learning system can be stressful, don’t add to that with inflexible, out-of-date methods.
