Learning Solutions 2023 Recap
Spring is finally here and with that comes flowers, rain, later sun sets, and one of our favorite events, the Learning Solutions Conference and Expo. SparkLearn attended Learning Solutions 2023 last week in Orlando, Florida ready to meet fellow learning professionals, share our product at the Expo, and gain new knowledge.
I presented a session on how to avoid dark UX design patterns in your learning ecosystem, played a super fun learning industry focused version of Family Feud with some fellow GuildMasters that was hosted by the Guild’s Mark Britz, and participated in a panel discussion about the implications and concerns surrounding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the world of learning and development (L&D). The conversation about AI wasn't limited to that panel though, AI was a very popular topic throughout the conference. It is becoming increasingly clear that AI will play a central role in the future of L&D.
One of the most significant ways in which AI is transforming learning tech is through the improvements it can bring to personalized learning. With the help of AI, learning professionals can now create tailored learning experiences for each individual learner based on their unique needs and preferences. This not only makes learning more efficient and practical but also more engaging and enjoyable.
We had the amazing opportunity to sponsor Steve Burns from Blue’s Clues' keynote in which he spoke about "the power of wonder as a learning tool.” It was a powerful and heartfelt message and one that is even more relevant with AI’s rise and the clear evidence that empathy and kindness are needed in the workplace, especially as uncertainty continues to impact the labor market and the shockwaves from COVID continue to hit society in so many ways.
In addition to personalized learning and immersive technologies, AI is also transforming L&D through the use of data analytics and machine learning. By analyzing data on learner behavior and performance, L&D professionals can identify areas of weakness and develop targeted interventions to help learners overcome these challenges. This not only improves learning outcomes but also provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of different learning strategies and approaches.
It’s clear that the future of L&D is inextricably linked to the power of AI. It is essential that we as professionals embrace the latest developments in AI and use them to drive wonder, curiosity, and innovation in the learning process. By doing so, we can create genuinely transformative learning experiences that empower learners to achieve their full potential.
We can’t wait to talk about these ideas and more with all of the new faces we met at #LSCon and look forward to the next great event hosted by the Learning Guild. We’ll definitely see you all at DevLearn in October!
